How the Campaign Will Work
This is for not only the players, but for myself to concrete some details during sessions and when creating sessions. It is important that you read through this, see if anything "feels off" or there's something you don't like, as it's possible to change certain aspects of the campaign, but I also do not want you to feel like this campaign is a waste of time.
Story & Narrative
The narrative will be LINEAR. There will be a main antagonist, there will be certain locations you will (eventually) go to, and there will be events that will happen that you have no control of.
However, how the story begins, develops, and ends is dependent on the players. During certain times, players will have multiple options of where to go to progress the main storyline.
Non-linear narratives can still happen during smaller one/two-session arcs, BUT should still progress the main story.
Genre
The genre will be ADVENTUROUS. Exploration, discovery, and traveling* will be the main focus.
* Traveling will be to different areas rather than the "experience" of traveling (i.e. the in-between of going from Point A to Point B)
Tone
The tone will be SERIOUS with COMEDIC MOMENTS. Think of MCU (Phase 1-3), ATLA, and (maybe) Gintama for an example of a "serious" story with serious characters, but with elements of goofy moments that come from the characters and world. I believe that mix of both elements will make the session enjoyable, being able to leave room for both light-hearted adventures and dark-toned stories.
Please, DO NOT make a full comedic or full serious character, as it may be difficult to integrate with the party and world.
World Vibe
The vibe will be FANTASY-REALISTIC. Many elements of the world will touch upon real-world topics with the addition of magic, races, and monsters.
Gameplay
The gameplay will be ROLEPLAY-HEAVY. In most cases, there will be only 1 tabletop combat per session. There is a possibility that a session will have 0 combats, but I will not have 0 combats back-to-back.
During "dungeons", it is likely to have more than 1 combat in 1 session. Minor combats may happen from travel events or by player initiative.
Deaths
Player Character
Player Character Deaths will happen mainly through ARC CLIMAX BATTLES. This is not to say that your player won't unalive during a regular session. Your character can still unalive through bad-decision making, breaking character too much, or not adapting to your bad rolls.
Player NPCs
Player NPC Deaths will happen only to develop your Player Characters. Again, this is not to say that your NPC won't unalive during a regular session. If you REALLY don't want your NPC to unalive, then let me know.
