Creating Your One-Shot (3) Character

Character Mechanics Guide: Cinket Guide to Creating a Character
This WILL NOT be a guide to creating a D&D character, but a set of rules, requirements, and restrictions to become a viable "character" of the story. I have it set as a numbered list so that hopefully as you build your character from the bottom up, you can follow the numbered list without having to remember everything.

One-Shot Information

Before you read this, please read the description of this page first: One-Shot Information (3)

0. How the Campaign Will Work

Although this is the One-Shot, I believe it's important to understand how the overall campaign will work. Please read over the !✨Important✨/How the Campaign Will Work page. This details a lot of how I will be running the story and whether this campaign is right for you!

It's a long read, so if you're in a hurry but are down to play D&D regardless of the world, then read the Tone section to get an understanding of what character you should create.

Safety Tools

Please go over the Lines & Veils. This is really important so I get to know what explicit topics you are comfortable or uncomfortable with.

1. Restrictions

Reusability

Unfortunately, due to the setting and outcome of the party, your One-Shot Character will not be able to be reused for future sessions or the main campaign. This doesn't mean that they won't reappear again! Most of them will have cameos in other sessions.

Age

For this One-Shot, your ❗character will be in their early to mid-20s.

Due to this, please keep in mind the different Races that age slower: Dhampirs, Dwarves, Elves, Gnomes, Half Elves, Halflings, and Lycans.

Location

Due to the nature of this One-Shot, your character's background is ❗limited to these continents:

Just like the races in Dorth, there are only a select number of continents that you can start in for your race. Each continent has their own "personal geography" and "general lifestyle", so please look into that, as some places have race slavery or prohibit magic.

Additionally, if you want, you can make your own towns and cities!

2. Backstory

Read this before you create your backstory!

Keep it Short!

Since this is a One-Shot, make sure to not write too much! I do have plans for your One-Shot Characters that will affect the main campaign, but it will not be as much as your Campaign characters.

Personality

In your backstory and during roleplay, your character should have the following:

Money.
Your character should have some drive for money. It doesn't have to be that they'll do anything for money, but they should be motivated to do things because of money.
Morals.
❗Your character should have morals. Although this is a quest to get super rich, they shouldn't be killing or stealing innocent people to achieve that goal. Remember that your character is also in their early to mid-20s, so they can have they can have flaws or bad habits.

Character Level 5

Your character should be at Character Level 5. This means your character should combat experience. This is your chance to experiment with different builds and ask for certain "homebrew" elements.

Martial Characters

If you are playing as a Martial Class, you will be given a Magical Weapon or Item to balance with the Spellcaster Classes. Please let me know what magical item you want for your character!

Party Background

By default, everyone's character WILL know each other. I advise that you collaborate with other players to have connections (i.e. childhood friends in Fern, siblings, similar hobbies like sailing).

HOW DID YOUR CHARACTER MEET WITH THE OTHER PLAYER CHARACTERS?!?❗
Before you guys become sailor adventurers (more info below), you all should have gathered in one place due to an event, do the One Piece route of getting together, or something else!

Meymei

The one shot will take place in Maymei.

Sailor Adventurers

❗Your characters are all sailors in Meymei! You all started an organization about 1-2 years ago, and travel from island to island to:

You all used to have a small boat traveling to Meymei, and eventually was able to afford ship through good relations with a dude named Bob, an Artificer that you guys saved; Bob made your guys' ship and helps with the repairs.

what i need from the PARTY

Here is a list of what I need:

  1. Party Name
  2. Boat Name
  3. Insignia (optional, but would be cool to put on like, the flag or smth)

unique things that need from YOU

  1. list of 3+ rare items/relics you collected during your adventures
    • I will pick one of them and it will be on your ship, some will be used on the different islands in Maymei
    • They can be strong items, but with caveats to where you cannot effectively use them during the session.
    • Ex.
      • Weird magic orb that your character and other characters has no clue what it does (but you as a player knows).
      • Bag of rare seeds that grows some weird plant that does cool stuff like produces fairy dust.
      • Resurrection stone that is nearly impossible to activate with the conditions.
      • Crate of extremely pure silver ore + some random compound that makes it extra strong and deadly.
      • Food that can make caseoh skinny.
      • If you're playing in the Main Campaign, I highly suggest to make an item or set of items that can be important to your Main Campaign Character.
  2. Magical Weapon or Item if you're playing a Martial Class
